Chiefs keep Gailey; Hire 7 new assistant coaches

The best thing to happen to the Chiefs last year, offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, will remain with the team in 2009 according to the Kansas City Star.
The Chiefs also hired 7 new assistant coaches, one of which is most likely the new defensive coordinator.
Among the 7 new coaches were, Clancy Pendergast, Gary Gibbs, Joel Collier, Pat Perles, Dedric Ward, Bill Muir, and Steve Hoffman.
The Chiefs new GM, Scott Pioli has not only brought with him his own coaching staff but has also ushered in a new regime of "concealment".
Case-in-point, we were completely unaware of the fact that the Chiefs interviewed anybody but Todd Haley for the head coaching position. Which we know they had to interview other candidates strictly by the Rooney-rule.
Most recently, the Chiefs have hired 7 new assistant coaches, none of which the media had a clue that they were interviewing. The next eyebrow raising moment - we still don't know which of those coaches will be the defensive coordinator. The Chiefs did not release yet, which of these coaches will take that position.
Out of those choices, Pendergast or Gibbs makes the most sense. Pendergast was the Arizona Cardinal's defensive coordinator until he was fired days after the Super Bowl. Gibbs was the New Orleans Saint's defensive coordinator until he was also fired in early January.
