Chiefs Announce New Defensive Coordinator
By: SCUBA

Weeks after Clancy Pendergast was hired by Scott Pioli in an undetermined role, the announcement was made.
Romeo Crennel was in the
equation, and even Chiefs coach Gary Gibbs was also in the
equation as the potential next defensive coordinator. However, it was ex-Cardinals defensive coordinator Pendergast that got the job.
Head coach Todd Haley coached with Pendergast with the Cardinals during last season's Super Bowl run.
Pendergast, 41, was defensive coordinator for the Cardinals over the past 5 seasons while working with Haley over the past two.
It has not been said if Romeo Crennel has turned down the job or not. Regardless, Pendergast will be an upgrade over Gunther Cunningham. As long as the Chiefs' defense takes the field, they will be better than they were last year.
It has been said that the Chiefs, under Haley, will run a 3-4 defense. Which gives even more reason for the Chiefs to draft the "surest thing in the draft" -
Aaron Curry.
Pendergast ran a base 4-3 with the Cardinals. However, the 'Patriots way' has always been a 3-4 under Belichik and Pioli.
