Gonzalez to Atlanta before the end of the week?

It has been reported by the Kansas City Star that All-pro Tight End Tony Gonzalez has been a no-show in the Chiefs voluntary mini-camp thus far. People shouldn't be surprised that a future Hall-of-fame, veteran who has spent their entire career in Kansas City not attend the voluntary camp. However, Gonzalez might be a sending a different signal to the Chiefs organization by not showing up to camp.
The speculation surrounding Gonzalez about being traded should be of no surprise to the KC faithful. Gonzalez has been in trade talks since last season and the 'talk' has continued leading into the draft this weekend.
According the
NationalFootballPost.com, the Falcons are "seriously considering" a trade with the Chiefs for Gonzalez. The said compensation for Gonzo is the Falcons 2nd round pick (#55 overall).
Although I would HATE to see this ever happening, there are reasons this would make sense:
1. Gonzalez has stated that he wants a chance to contend now. (Falcons 11-5 playoff team in 2008)
2. The Chiefs do not currently possess a 2nd round pick. (Traded their 2nd round pick in the Matt Cassel trade)
3. Haley's pass-happy offense in Arizona never fully utilized a TE.
4. Gonzalez has also stated that he doesn't want to be a part of a rebuilding project. (Which is what the Chiefs are)
You know that debilitating pain you feel when you stub you toe on your metal bed frame....you know that pain that makes you fall to the ground as if you just broke your foot, the pain that would make a pastor string together a list of obscenities that Bob Knight would be proud of. That's the kind of pain I fear will take-hold of me by Sunday. With the draft coming in a few days, don't be surprised to see a trade before or during the 2nd round for potentially the greatest player ever to wear a Chiefs uniform.
