So far Mark Sanchez, future starting QB for the New York Jets, is off to a good start. The fifth overall pick in the draft will be in training camp on time by being the second first round pick to sign.
Since, the chances that Sanchez will be the starter in week one it was best to get Sanchez acclimated with his team and the playbook as soon as possible. The less that he and his agent have to deal with contract negotiations the more time he will have to concentrate on becoming an effective NFL starter.
The deal was said to be 5 years around the $50 million mark. Sanchez will earn $28 million in guaranteed money.
The number one overall pick Matthew Stanford the only other first rounder to sign, received a six year $78 million contract with $41 million guaranteed.
