Chiefs pick up 'well-dressed' Amani Toomer

Head coach Todd Haley brings with him the Arizona Cardinals offensive playbook from their Super Bowl run last year. Haley will undoubtedly look to air-it-out with Cassel at QB.
The problem for the Chiefs is that their #1 receiving option over the past decade has left KC for Atlanta. The Chiefs are now left with Dwayne Bowe as their only receiving option that can be considered a threat.
Once training camp started last week, my guess is the Haley and Pioli took a look at the receivers and said 'who the hell are these guys?" Pioli picks up the phone and Amani Toomer is on the first plane to arrowhead.
Toomer a 13-year vet, signed a 1-year deal yesterday to compete for the #2 WR spot. He will be competing with recently acquired Bobby Engram for that spot.
Toomer, who turns 35 in September, will try to bring a little of that consistency and possession talent he has had with the Giants for a number of years. The Giants with a plethora of young, talented receivers just didn't see a fit for Toomer in the offense and chose not to bring him back.
Pioli who in one offseason is trying to turn the youngest team in the NFL into the oldest with acquiring, Mike Vrabel, Zach Thomas, Bobby Engram, Mike Brown, and now Amani Toomer.
I, for one, agree with the signing. Even if Toomer was 51 years old, as long as he can improve our passing game, I am all for him being a Chief. Now if he can remain consistent with at least 48 catches as he did last year, I will be a happy man.
