Hill to start for the 49ers in opener

Mike Singletary announced today that Shaun Hill will be the team's starting quarterback in the season opener at Arizona.
With that said, the countdown to when Alex Smith train departing San Francisco is on. The #1 overall draft pick in 2005 can now follow in the footsteps of some of the other #1 overall QB 'busts' that preceded him; David Carr, Tim Couch, Jeff George, etc.
I can't imagine an organization wanting to keep such a large contract as a #2 man on the depth chart. However, don't expect any animosity between the Hill and Smith due to the benching. The two are pretty good friends. In fact, Hall was invited to be one of Smith's groomsmen in his wedding.
There will most likely be a Alex Smith sighting at some point this season. However, if Hill gets the nod as starter at the end of this season, the 49ers will say 'goodbye' the their so-called franchise quarterback next season.
