Here is the thing, as much as we might want to believe that Andy Reid is sold on McNabb, I don't think they have the buddy-buddy comradeship that we all might think. I would not be surprised to see Vick take some situation possessions as the Eagles QB once week 6 comes and goes

RE: Vikings desperation has many faces
Not only does Favre playing for the Vikings not give them a ticket to the super bowl, but it ruins so many more chances for their future. After this year, none of the backup quarterbacks are going to want to play for an organization that lied to them. So the Vikings will have to make a big time acquisition, which, thanks to Favre, they no longer have the money for. Horrible move all around

Have fun with butterfingers,er, I mean...Ashley Lelie...heh...Ashley. Here is the deal, maybe he will be ok for a couple of games, or...downs. By the fact of the matter is, he is just another real weak bandage that appears to be trying to cover up the gaping wound that is the Chiefs receiving staff. Not exactly known for its ability to put out talent, and now Dwayne Bowe is dropping balls? I sure hope they didn't ruin more potential

RE: Fantasy Fun in Week 1
J2 D3: I think that Flacco could be pro bowl material. He will face the defenses of teams like Cleavland and Cincinnati. I think he could have a HUGE year. As far as Williams goes, I think he could have a few more decent games, but Tampa runs a 2-2-1 running back system which means they let their first back do 2 series, second back do 2, and their third back 1. This will split the carries up quite a bit and could mean fewer yards and touchdowns than you as a fantasy owner would want.

RE: TSD's NFL Week #2 Awards
The Texans took it a step further than just screwing your weekly picks. Last week Matt Shaub left me high and dry by only getting me 2 points on my fantasy team. So this week I benched him and went with the more consistent Kyle Orton, who still had 9 points, but that is absolutely jack-nothing compared to Shaub and his 37 points this week against the Titans stellar secondary...what the heck

RE: Long Time No See
I will admit, my Favre hatred is a little bias. While I may bleed mile high orange and blue, I live 3 blocks from the metrodome. Every day I drive to work I pass by a 75-foot Favre poster. Everytime I go to BWW's I am surrounded by a sea of drunken purple talking about their savior #4 and how good their super bowl rings already look.
That being said, Favre has done a lot better this year than I thought he would. He has turned Sidney Rice into a stud overnight, he has developed Percy Harvin faster than I think most (Or at least Al Davis) thought, and you can't argue to strongly with a 6-1 record. Even though I still think Favre is ultimately killing the Vikings at the quarterback for the next 10 years, for this year it still looks like a good move.
Here is where I find the holes in the Purple Pride though; The Vikings have won my a touchdown or less against the Packers, Ravens, and 49ers. All teams that I would argue will not do much of anything in the Post-season if they make it there. Favre has only thrown for 300 yards in two games, one of them being against the Steelers in a loss. While Adrian Peterson has only rushed for over 100 yards twice. Whether or not Favre is a good choice this season, the Vikings still need to place their games in the hands of the most talented running back to ever play, which they are not doing. Childress let Favre throw the ball 51 times against the Steelers because he and the twin cities believe that Favre was their sole missing ingredient. All I am saying is that I think the 4th quarter against the Steelers proved that theory wrong. No matter who you point fingers at, Childress put the offense in Favre's hands, and the Steelers defense scored twice. Maybe Favre held on to the the ball too long in the pocket and that's why it got stripped. Maybe he should have thrown the dump pass to Chester Taylor a little lower like they teach you to do in middle school. No matter who's fault it was, Favre was not able to work "More comeback magic" again, and I don't blame the rest of the Vikings...I blame a good team, the Steelers.

RE: Quick Hitters Week 8
When the Packers played in Minnesota this season, Peterson was held to an ugly 55 yards while Favre went off for 3 touchdowns. I'm not saying history always repeats itself, but this game will be played on natural grass (Whereas Peterson is faster on turf, like in the Metrodome), and it's being played in the Stadium that Favre is most used to throwing in.

RE: Week 9 Questions
Steve Slaton was benched last week after his fifth fumble of the season. It is obvious that Coach Kubiak is sick of the lack of production he is getting out of Slaton. Now comes Ryan Moats. Moats put up 126 yards for 3 touchdowns while averaging 5.5 yards a carry against a Buffalo defense that really is not as bad as you might think. The Texans have been inconsistent all season and Slaton has not proven that he is not a big reason why. So definitely expect to see Moats continue to get chances to prove he should be the feature back. I would say definitely pick up Ryan Moats if you can, running back depth never hurts and the Texans proved last season that they can definitely help a running back to some pretty gawdy stats.

RE: Week 9 Questions
Well, I would say you definitely have to start one of the Giants backs. As much as New York has been on a skid, they should take care of business with San Diego fairly early in the game which means they will probably opt for the safer option of running towards the end of the game. The Chargers run defense has been surprisingly good, they have only given up 100 or more to one rusher this season, and that was when Steeler's Rashard Mendenhall torched them for 165. I think that Bradshaw runs more like Mendenhall than Jacobs does, so I would start Bradshaw here.
For the second spot, I think you have to take a risk and start Moats. Even if he doesn't have the same big game as last week, Slaton is still way to inconsistent, scoring only two touchdowns this season. Coach Kubiak will trust Moats style and ball control down on the goal line more than he will Slaton. If I had to guess, I would say that Slaton won't get any carries in the red zone on Sunday. It's not like Wells is a horrible option either, it's just that the Cardinals run game is such a non-factor in their game plan right now. Last week against the Panthers the entire team only rushed for 94 yards with the lone rushing touchdown going to Hightower, so I would say give your two spots to Ahmad Bradshaw and Ryan Moats

RE: Week 10 Questions
It's funny that you ask about both of these people because in my opinion, they are in the same boat. Talented in the wrong system. For Meachem, you have to remember that he is Drew Brees 4th or 5th option with people like Colston, Moore, Henderson, and Bush in front of him. That being said, Brees does a great job spreading the ball around as you probably have witnessed some of the nice games Meachem has had. So if you are really hurting at the receiver position, then maybe you could pick him up. Otherwise, I would try to rely on receivers that are the second options in their passing scheme.
Donald Brown in a keeper is worth the risk, but be warned. The Colts are a "pass first, pass second, and run if Manning's arm is blown off" offense. Joseph Addai is a talented back, yet he will never have hall of fame numbers for the Colts. That being said, Addai has had a solid season as of late and has cut into Donald Browns carries. I would pick up Brown in a keeper and hope he gets traded, because he has definitely shown he can be a downhill runner in the NFL.

RE: Fantasy Football Week 13
Double G Sports,
Ray Rice has to be an automatic start for the rest of the season. The Ravens are going to be gunning for the playoffs and Rice has been their money-maker, so trust that Rice is going to get more than his share of touches, and as he has shown, that could add up to some big points.
With the Lions playing the Bengals this week, I think you are going to want to avoid Kevin Smith. The Bengal D has been tough all year. Plus, with both Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson being healthy, that will put more pass plays in the Lions playbook.
So the toss-up between Steven Jackson and Rashard Mendenhall is a tough one. They are both playing weak defenses with Jackson facing the Bears and Mendenhall against the Raiders. I think in this situation you are going to have to give the spot to Mendenhall though. The Raiders absolutely suck, and they won't be stacking the box against Big Ben like the Bears will be against whoever the Rams choose to start at Quarterback. Plus, Jackson has a banged up back and has not been going in practice so far this week, so he may be a little stiff if he plays at all on Sunday.

RE: Fantasy Football Week 13
SCUBA - ChiefsHouse.com,
I think hands down you should start Alex Smith over Kurt Warner. Smith is playing against the Seahawks, Warner is going up against the Vikings. The Seahawks have a couple injured D-linemen (Redding and Jackson), while the Vikings have been feared all year for their pass rush. With Warner coming off of a concussion, I'm not sure how he will handle the Vikings pass rush. I can see him getting a little jumpy early on and throwing some uncharacteristic ints.
Smith, on the other hand, has been gradually improving. He is coming off of a hot week against the Jaguars last week throwing for 232 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no picks. I think Smith should be a safe start for this week, and should bring you something within the 13-18 point range.

RE: Fantasy Football Week 13
TJ,
Week one, I would be telling you that this was a stupid question. You would have no choice but to start Greg Jennings and Roddy White, but here we are in Week 13 and I am forced to state the opposite.
Jennings will be playing against the Ravens who; 1. Have Ed Reed (headache for Jennings)and 2. Have linebackers who are playing outstanding right now (headache for Rodgers). The Ravens will make Aaron Rodgers head spin with their pass rush on his weak O-line. I think it could be a very tough game for Rodgers which will equal unimpressive stats for Jennings.
Roddy White on the other hand is in an offense that is plagued with injuries. His quarterback, Matt Ryan, is out for Sunday's game. While White himself has been struggling with a sore knee all week in practice. This along with the fact that the Eagles secondary certainly isn't bad, should knock White off of your starting roster this week.
Jeremy Maclin is set up to have a big week. Both Desean Jackson and Kevin Curtis are doubtful to play which will make Maclin the go to guy for Donovan McNabb. I would definitely start Maclin and hope that the Eagles take to the skies often and long. Which is a good chance with the continued absence of Brian Westbrook.
Piere Garcon is a risk, but one that I think is worth taking. Peyton Manning has been targeting him more and more lately, and in a big divisional game against the Titans, Mannings passes are going to be spot on. Plus, even tough the Titans are on a hot streak, their secondary is still mor than vulnerable and should serve up a feast for Manning and all of his receivers.

RE: Fantasy Football Week 13
Brendon Packwood,
That is really tough because each of those backs are very inconsistent. Here is what I think you can depend on though.
Maroney played a very solid game against the Saints. A game where Tom Brady threw for 2 picks. So this week against the Dolphins, I would not be surprised to see Maroney, who already has 8 touchdowns this year, get more carries in the red zone which should hopefully lead to a couple touchdowns for him.
Justin Forsett has also been very good as of late. He has scored a touchdown in each of his last three games and with a career game last week, he should become an even bigger part of the Seahawk offense this week. He might not be a big name yet, but against the Niners this week, he might put together another big game.
The Texans backfield is getting really crowded and Andre Johnson has been playing outside of his mind lately, those are the two biggest reasons why I would avoid Slaton. Kevin Smith could be a decent option, but I still just don't know how much you want to trust the stats of a Detroit Lion offensive player.

RE: Fantasy Football Week 13
J Parrish,
You are going to have to give Forsett that flex spot. He has just been too good as of late to not pick him up. Along with this, I would agree about dropping Julius Jones because the Seahawks may just be getting more and more on the Forsett-train.
So once you drop Julius Jones, who should you pick up? I think Kenny Britt should be a definite choice. The only problem there is that the Titans are an extremely run-heavy offense, and Britt had a big game last week because the Titans were FORCED to throw in a late game situation. That being said, Britt still showed that he can be trusted with more passes coming his way and I believe that Vince Young and the Titans coaching staff will take notice of the young stud out of Rutgers. If he slips away though, Josh Morgan (49ers) and Louis Murphy (Raiders) should also be available to you in your free agency pool and are definitely worth a look.

RE: Fantasy Football Week 13
Foxxxybrown,
With how hot Drew Brees has been lately, I would say starting any Saints runningback is a risk. Plus Mike Bell has been cutting into some of Thomas's carries, so that might hurt him down on the goal line. Especially when you also have someone named Reggie Bush running end-arounds and reverses. Grant has been fairly consistent, but may struggle against the Ravens. Still he should score on at least 1 goal line carry. Moreno had a big game against the Giants and should have an even bigger one against Kansas City. And if the Williams you are talking about is DeAngelo, then that is always a safe start. The only problem there is that Jonathan Stewart could cut into some goal line carries.
For your WR's, Chambers has been hot lately, so he is a definite start. However, Welker and Jackson are both in somewhat of a fantasy point slump. The X-Factor though is who they are playing. Welker is playing the Dolphins who are so-so, but Jackson is playing the Browns. You should start Jackson because Phillip Rivers will try to reconnect with him against the porous Browns secondary. That being said, Welker is still a better option then Celek. So only start one TE and make it Shiancoe.

RE: Fantasy Football Week 13
DBAGGG,
Ryan Grant and Ahmad Bradshaw are kind of toss-ups for Sunday. However, I think the Packers will be looking to Grant often on Monday night because of how frustrated the Ravens blitz package will have Aaron Rodgers. The Packers will hopefully be able to get Grant some big yards on some draw plays and and screen passes to catch the blitz off guard.
For your flex, I think you have to give Calvin Johnson another shot. Both him and Stafford should be healthy on Sunday, and Johnson's stats have been gradually getting better. Hopefully Stafford is able to find Johnson a few times early on in the game and get in a bit of a rhythm.
I think your 2nd best option would be to put Bradshaw in the flex. Brandon Jacobs has been struggling as of late and the Cowboys run defense is by no means unbeatable. Runningbacks are always the more safe option than receivers because of their potential down by the goal line. So if you don't feel comfortable with any of your other receivers than give Bradshaw a chance.

Foxxybrown,
I checked more into Grant's injury. He is practicing, but it's limited. The thing is, since it is a shoulder injury, they may impact how much force he runs in-between the tackles with.
I would still start Williams and Moreno, But Thomas is the real question mark. The thing is, the Saints are every bit as pass happy as the Packers. Thomas has also been struggling with an injury though. He has practiced just as much as Grant due to a wrist injury. Now the thing with wrist-injures is they have a tendency to cause fumbles. So that might affect how much the coaches trust Thomas down on the goal line when it comes time to punch a few in for six. So I would keep an eye on both Grant and Thomas's injuries to see how much they are practicing and then make your decision Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Babak,
I think in your situation you have to give Bess the call. After the monster week he had last week, the Dolphins could try to factor him into their game plan for a big divisional game against the Jags. With only Ricky Williams at tailback and with how good Chad Henne is throwing the ball, Bess looks like a sound fantasy option.
As far as kickers go, I would let Folk take your spot. The Jets are going to have a hard time moving the ball or scoring much with their starting quarterback injured. While the cowboys have enough firepower to at least get to the redzone a few times against the Chargers.

RE: Week 14 Fantasy Football Questions: Who To Sit And Start.
Jeff Johansen,
I like the matchup of Grant against the Bears. Chicago's defense is on it's last leg and Green Bay, being a divisional opponent, knows this as good as anybody. They are going to try to make this a physical game early on so look for Grant to get tons of redzone carries which should get you at least 1 touchdown, hopefully even 2.
As good as Denver's secondary has been this year at times, they never have been, and never will be as good as Peyton Manning. Manning has made Denver's pass D look silly many times in the past. For some reason he just seems to have their number. So for that reason, I think you have to give Garcon the nod. The Colts are undefeated, and Manning/Garcon are going to make sure they stay that way on Sunday.

RE: Week 14 Fantasy Football Questions: Who To Sit And Start.
Jamey,
The RB situation is a tough one. The Texans mix up their backfield so much, it's hard to say whether or not Chris Brown will get any number of carries. I say you go with Shonn Greene. The Jets will be without Sanchez so they will be looking for something consistent to get their offense started. Hopefully Greene gets some of Jones's carries and maybe hit paydirt once for ya.
For the wideouts, I am going to recommend Manningham and Moss. Manningham just because he has been consistent all year. And Moss because he is going up against the Raiders. I think you take any receiver who gets to play against the Raiders.
My thoughts on your QB is that you have to go with Palmer. The Vikings secondary got exposed last week trying to cover more than one talented receiver and that is exactly what the Bengals will bring to the table. Carson Palmer could equal two straight losses for the Vikes.

Jesse,
Rivers has been on an unbelievable hot streak as of late. While Favre is coming off of a shaky performance in Arizona. You have to start Rivers simply based on what History is telling you. The Chargers have a big game against the Cowboys and I would expect Rivers to show up firing on all cylinders.

RE: Week 14 Fantasy Football Questions: Who To Sit And Start.
Daniel,
A very valid question. Here is my return question though: Does your league play with Individual Defensive Players (IDP's)? Because Hakeem Nicks will be able to bring you special teams points too off of his returns. However, if your league doesn't play with IDPs then there is a good chance that your team defenses get credit for special teams yards. So if you play with IDPs then start Nicks, if you play with team defenses, I would say you take a chance on Forte.
And the TE is kind of a toss up, but I say you go with Winslow just because he is playing against the Jets and hopefully we will be able to find a few seams in their D.

RE: Week 14 Fantasy Football Questions: Who To Sit And Start.
Mateev,
I am going to give my 2 votes to Chris Brown and LT. Not that I think either one of them will give you a win by themselves. I just think they have a better chance than Ganthers of hitting the endzone. The Chargers still respect LTs ability to score. And Chris Brown has just as good of a chance as anybody in the Texans backfield to get a look.

RE: Week 14 Fantasy Football Questions: Who To Sit And Start.
DBAGG,
That is a lot of talent at receiver, and either way, you are going to be left with some unused points on your bench. I would personally start Jennings and Rice. Jennings is going to be playing against the very weak Chicago secondary while Rice will once again be Favres favorite target for the day. They will both get plenty of looks, and you can only hope that both games will be fairly high scoring so there should be plenty of points to go around. They'll get their cut.

RE: Week 14 Fantasy Football Questions: Who To Sit And Start.
RB,
I think you have to go with Harvin here. Steve Smith (Giants) is part of a very crowded receiving core that he has a chance to get lost in against the Eagles. While Steve Smith (Panthers) has been bad all year and is only going to get worse with a very unstable QB situation. So give the future rookie of the year a shot. Harvin racks up points in a variety of ways and the Vikings would be foolish to not take advantage of that in a big rebound game against the Bengals.

RE: Week 14 Fantasy Football Questions: Who To Sit And Start.
Dean,
I think AP and Vincent Jackson have to be automatics every week. Even though they have been quiet recently, you never want to be the guy who has them on the bench when they go off for one of their big games.
My second choices would be Grant and Mason. Grant is usually a solid choice to get you some redzone carries most weeks. And Mason is going up against the Lions. That should mean that the Ravens will unleash Flacco early to air it out and Mason has been as good as anyone on the Ravens receiving corp this year.

RE: Week 14 Fantasy Football Questions: Who To Sit And Start.
Bill,
I think you will have to go with Henne on this one. He has been pretty consistent as of late and the Dolphins are starting to look to him to form more of a pass offense then they have in the past. Put him up against a mediocre Jacksonville secondary in a big divisional game, and you should have the formula for another decent game for Henne. Cassel is still just too inconsistent to rely on.

RE: Knicks Setting Up Trade For Tracy McGrady
Way to get on the ball with this story Scuba. This would be a good trade for all parties included. T-Mac needs to move on and the Rockets need to get rid of dead weight. Meanwhile, what does this say for all of the implications that LeBron was supposed to wind up in the Big Apple? I seriously doubt there is room for both LBJ and TMac in the Garden

RE: Who Is The Best Quarterback Ever In The NFL? Peyton Manning.
I know, I short sheeted Montana a little bit. I really did not give a good enough explanation for why I did not choose him, I guess I just thought the article would have gotten too long if I would have done that for every player.
Here is what I looked at though; If Manning and Montana reversed roles, would the results still be the same? I think if you compare Manning and Montana head to head as athletes, Manning turns out to be the better quarterback based on his intangibles and mental abilities.
The point about Montana playing for the Chiefs was 1. me taking a shot at an AFC West rival, and 2. Me saying that at the end of his career, his team no longer wanted him. In my opinion, that would not happen to the greatest quarterback of all time.
