Thanks! Never tried that one. Just kinda randomly did podbean because it was really easy to set up and get loaded, but I'll look into it.

RE: Washington's break up strategy with Zorn, fall of the Sanchise, and Lebron got the swine.
Hmm, pretty sure having a disability and just being a moron are two different things. In working with a lot of special ed. kids I really don't want to insult them by linking them in any way with that douche bag. Not only was what he did asinine, dude made an ass of himself in trying to justify it.
On Sanchez, its possible that in taking a combination of dance and history of TV at USC he never really learned about that whole weather and geography thing?

RE: The Case For Kenny Smith(s)
The Chiefs really should have just added Barkley, I mean he's big, hes loud, and he's entertaining, all of which never hurt to have in a locker room. By the way, remember that video game, Barkley's shut up and jam? Man do I miss some Super Nintendo.

RE: The long trip home, Bob Griese talks Nascar, and more Sunday thoughts.
Ok, I haven't actually really had the fish sandwich at the Waffle House. I have a rule against eating fish from a place that caters to the strip club after party crowd and truck drivers.
I feel like Super Tecmo Bowl is the Michael Jordan answer, obviously the most dramtic punts in the history of the world! Good call on Sega hockey, though I can think about with that is Swingers. And NBA Jam has to be up there, arcade edition though. hmm. Let the debate continue... I'm feeling a rankings blog coming soon, possibly a poll if I can figure that out.

They should make him go back to Penn State and sit in a room alone with Joe Pa for a few hours. Guarantee he's got some words for LJ. By the way, awesome picture selection.

Good call on Golden State Nick. And Corey, crystal meth does seem very West Va. trailor park to me as well.

Dr. Perky is the Food Lion brand I think. But really I wonder if I could get the job of coming up with generic soda names that are semi perverse. wonder what that pays?

so true, less beer bongs and more weight room would have been a good call, though easier said than done though, especially considering the hot tub company.

RE: Why Charlie Weis In KC Makes Sense
good call, Charlie is defiantly going to end up back in the league. Tate would be a nice addition as well, so long as he gives the staging diving into random bands a rest. You catch you ankle on a tuba the wrong way and you're screwed.

RE: Go Danica! Can Danica Patrick Revive NASCAR?
At first this will give nascar a little surge in ratings, but it won't last. Their real problems lie within the fact that Hendrick is in bed with front office creating less competition and they have gotten away from their once loyal fan base by trying to spread out into new areas of the country.

Jamison is a class act and a consistent player. Gilbert is that quirky relative you don't mind seeing a few times a year but would never go on vacation with. He's drug the Wizards down for years.

RE: "Classless" moves by the Vikes, Norv Turner's blown call, and solutions for the NBA dunk contest
Gosh, I never knew Jonas Brothers fans took things so personal, disliked sports writers so much, and had such highly educated children.
I will say that the more I think about it, most of the 13 year olds I know make fun of the Jonas Brothers and their fans.
Still don't want to see T-Mac or AI start though.
Travis Williams Posted At 1/18/2010 05:13 PM
RE: "Classless" moves by the Vikes, Norv Turner's blown call, and solutions for the NBA dunk contest
Good point. The reference to 13 year olds was more a criticism of the online voting format which allows for multiple votes from a single users and caters to those with an abundance of free time on the internet, ie 13 year olds. Granted the 18-25 bracket is probably spending a ton of time on here blowing off work, so who knows who is voting for T-Mac and AI so many times. Just think All-Star game starters should be the players having "All Star" years rather than turning it into a popularity contest or worse, a life time achievement award.

RE: The NFL overtime rule and the start of Summer-o-Favre 2010!
True, it has about as much of a chance of happening as my shoot around dunk contest idea, or moving the super bowl to Saturday.
I agreed with Mr. Whinfield as well. In fact I think I compared the game to an epic movie. I just hate that a great game comes down to settling for a field goal. I wouldn't think you want a Shakespearean play to end with a random character from Act 1 running out and stabbing the main guy at the end of a duel. But maybe that's just me.
And say what you want, but it will be hard to find a twenty something, who has even a sub par level of pop culture knowledge, that didn't see some of the Real World Hawaii. The last classic season.

RE: Should the New Jersey Nets trade for Amare Stoudemire?
Amare is still waiting for that one monster break out season. He could do well in the East and if the Nets could get him and keep Brook Lopez, that front court could be sick. If they could get a decent swing man too, they could easily make the playoffs.

@ Ashely: So you're telling me all those fans would be there if the chance to see some guy get his face smashed wasn't involved? I'm not talking about the guys who do MMA, the sport itself, or even every fan, just the over all climate of the event. Be honest with yourself, it's not the most fan friendly situation for a guy with a mouth like Rex.
And thanks Dan.

RE: Knicks Setting Up Trade For Tracy McGrady
I still believe the Knicks best bet is to tank their games, pay off Stern to give them the first pick, if they even need to, Lord knows Stern loves the Knicks, and draft John Wall. Lebron wants to play with that kid, so maybe they could pitch the Big Apple to him after that.

I think at this point I'm sticking with my mascot pick of Baylor. They are athletic and are peaking at the right time, plus I dig the Bear. RE: Final four thoughts, De'Sean's bad night, and why is Duke the evil empire?
Easy Duke apologist, it's a sarcastic little bit, not a sociological study.
My point was not that it was a snobby rich school, but more so that a few bad apples can ruin people's impressions on an program. The "polo wearer" is not a stereotype created, it's actually based on the fans I've run into, all of whom aren't rich and who did not attend the school. But on the other hand, if it burnt that bad it could be because it carries some truth.
By the way, I don't hate Duke, but we all know they are playing the role of the big bad guy this weekend.

RE: Tiger Woods and Nike get creepy, Slovenian Hockey players know how to party, and the Back Porch podcast!
Valid point, but we all know they have a very vested interest in fixing his image. More so Tiger than other athletes too because they have no other selling point in the world unlike basketball or football where they could hype someone else.
I guess the creepy part was more just how it didn't sit well hearing the voice and all, just didn't sit well.

Beamer will be at Va Tech as long as he wants. The difference between him and Bobby is that Weaver is a shadow of an AD and they have no coach in waiting. Also, don't forget Wilson in the backfield, should have some sick depth.

RE: The American League bullys it's way to an All Star DH
How does choosing to make both leagues play by one league's rules not get that league some sort of advantage? Now granted bullied was an over exaggeration, but I think baseball caters to the AL and by allowing pitchers who never bat in the regular season to avoid in in the All Star game they are given them an edge. Now its not a huge one, but still an edge.
My point was more that if baseball wants to make this one "count" and make it more like a regular game and less of an exhibition, then why take out any competitive advantages at all? Then again, why force every team to have a player in the game. Seems to be getting closer and closer to a scrimmage, which is fine, but just don't tell me it counts then.
Of course I also wonder why it is ridiculous to have a pitcher bat, but that's the whole DH debate that has and will go on forever.

RE: Ranking the College Football Programs in the ACC since conference expansion.
Good call on pointing out that it's all coaching for the Hokies. They recruit VA well but Beamer and Foster really take average players and turn them into studs, ie Cody Grimm. Consistency in coaching is where it's at. Of course that's the 100% biased opinion of someone who calls Blacksburg home.
You are right about the UNC upswing, they will be tough this year. I feel like every year since expansion has been labeled as the break out year for Clemson until about October, and I also think Maryland has been the biggest disappointment since expansion.

Every month I open my mail box and take out that huge bill for student loans, 30 grand, which is low by most standards. NCAA athletes will never experience this. RE: Impressions of the ACC Media Days Preseason Picks.
Ponder is the sexy pick, but I think Williams and Taylor, plus the return of Evans, will be so linked for their successes they will always split votes. Va. Tech also has more experience in the WR dept than they have had in years, so that should help the offense as a whole.
Oh and I won't lie, the icing on the cake for Va. Tech had to be that in state rival UVA was picked dead last. I think they will finish better than that, but I won't cry if they don't.

RE: 2010 Preseason ACC Team Predictions.
One overlooked aspect of this Va. Tech team is the receivers. Everyone wants to focus on that the backfield, and rightly so, but this group of receivers got better over the course of last season and should continue to do so. That should help Tyrod out a lot, especially with defenses keeping their eyes locked on Ryan Williams early in the year.
Also, I know that Boise is a huge game and a tone setter, but honestly I'm more worried about that November stretch that includes back to back road trips to Miami and UNC and then the rivalry game against UVA. It's a tough schedule, which should keep Beamer and the guys on their toes.
On a side note, just moved back to Blacksburg and the entire area is like a kid on Xmas eve. Can't wait.

Touche. Electrical outlets are the same, Matt you win.
Now before I touch your other thoughts I would like you to point to the spot in the blog where I mention attendance figures. Exactly. Attendance doesn't equal fanfare and unless you own a Raptors shirt, I still have yet to meet someone who does.
The whole point is that players in Toronto play good enough to get noticed and then jet. T-Mac, Carter, Bosh, prime examples. TV ratings, actual numbers at the games, and it being a large market don't change the fact that no one is rushing across the border to play, despite them making the playoffs fairly often.
I'm not hating on Toronto, universal health care or the school systems (not sure why that was even mentioned) but be honest with yourself, if the Raptors disappeared tomorrow I seriously doubt many tears would be shed.

RE: Chan Gailey may be in for a very long year
Clearly I don't or I'm just reading it as it was reported. Just having a little fun with the haircut bud and mom says your welcome to join for dinner.

RE: Is 18 games really a good thing?
Interesting concept. Would that neutral site be in a non-NFL city maybe?

RE: UNC Football is in deep *!@(#&* now with impending academic investigation.
USC East, classic! haha.
My dad might have said it best when he said "there is no way UNC will put up with this crap if Butch had a hand in it. Miami would have, but not UNC."

RE: The 5 most intriguing ACC conference games of 2010.
sweet 3 out of 5 are in my backyard! Honestly depending on how this UNC thing pans out you could add Tech @ UNC as well. The Coastal is going to be nuts this year.

RE: Quarterback Tyrod Taylor is The Key to the Virginia Tech season.
Most impressive to me was Tyrod went 10 for his first 10, one of which was a 95 yard bomb to the TE. Yeah, the TE, exactly what Tech has been missing since Jeff King left. Boone was good, but they ignored him. The Hokies have a great core of receivers this year, the deepest backfield in the country, and if you add a solid threat at TE, Tyrod looks to have more weapons than the hero of a C level action flick.

RE: Way too early College Bowl Projections; everybody gets a bid!
I agree there are too many bowls. I guess everyone gets a trophy, juice box, and their choice of either goldfish or teddy grahams these days. Of which you should always go teddy grahams, cinnamon teddy grahams.

RE: 90210 College Football Casting Call
Hmm, so are you saying Boise and TCU shall eventually rise up and own the college football world, meanwhile Florida (Donna/Tori Spelling) will fall off the map? Possibly very prophetic.
