We asked seven regulars to dress for the next Chief's House. Here's what they wore, and what they told us.

An Abuja night uniform, in seven outfits.

There is a thing the room does to what you wear. You can spot a first-timer because they are dressed for somewhere else.

Tunde, 28, fashion buyer, wore a deep maroon shirt unbuttoned to the third button, vintage straight-leg, white sneakers. "I dress for the room, not the photos. The photos take care of themselves."

Aisha, 24, junior architect, wore a black slip dress with a leather jacket and black boots. "Sunday brunch I would wear something colourful. Friday night I wear what disappears in the dark."

Femi, 31, lawyer, wore a linen co-ord in cream. "If I am the brightest thing in the room, I have made a mistake."

The pattern was rich, dark, intentional. Nobody dressed up. Everybody dressed correctly.
